As a crossroads for centuries of civilisations, the ruins, ancient buildings and archaeological sites delight and fascinate those with an astute interest in history and curious tourists alike but, once again, for most tireless teenagers, once you’ve seen one old building you’ve seen them all.

And while mum and dad relax into a traditional, lazy Cypriot lunch which seems to last around three days and entail 465 different courses, the tiny toddlers have already downed their pizza slice, chips and ice cream and are raring to go again. Cyprus really is a fantastic place for children and there are usually hundreds of beachside and poolside activities to keep them busy, but remember that the weather does get a little less than perfect during winter and that the middle of the day is extremely hot during the height of summer.
